Fed: Aircraft fuel contamination reported a dozen times: AOPA
CANBERRA, Jan 12 AAP - The fuel contamination crisis which had grounded thousands of
small planes was not an isolated incident, aircraft owners and pilots said today.
More than a dozen instances of fuel contamination had occurred in the past year, Aircraft
Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) general manager Mike Hart said.
On Monday, more than 5,000 small planes were grounded just two weeks after the discovery
of contaminated Mobil aviation fuel forced a similar mass grounding on Christmas Eve.
