NSW: Conditions in the NSW snowfields
SYDNEY, Aug 24 AAP - A clear and fine morning with a light wind will be followed by
snow showers later today.
Forecast: snowfalls are expected to continue through to tomorrow, clearing on Saturday,
except in Thredbo, where snow showers and strong winds will continue through Saturday.
Thredbo: Excellent snow cover across the resort, with a light and dry cover on the
upper trails. The lower slopes will be firm early, softening throughout the day. Great
top-to-bottom skiing and boarding for all standards, with conditions especially good on
the Crackenback Supertrail and High Noon Supertrail first up. All lifts operating.
Perisher Blue: Snow cover is still excellent following recent snowfalls. All areas
of the resort looking good, with conditions good for advanced skiers at Mt Perisher and
Olympic. Up to 46 lifts are expected to operate, interlinking the four resort areas and
making it a good day for the 90-run challenge.
Selwyn Snowfields: Conditions ideal for all levels, with plenty of snow off-piste and
on cross country trails as well. Township, Long Arm, Kangaroo Ridge and Emu's Chase good
for intermediates today. Ten lifts expected to open.
Charlotte Pass: conditions described as the best in years, with a two-metre plus base.
The entire resort is reported to be in perfect condition and well groomed. All lifts open.
Roads: Open and clear.
