Vic: Beckham's Aussie lover set out to destroy marriage - report

MELBOURNE, April 12 AAP - Friends of Australian model Sarah Marbeck say she was obsessed
with British football star David Beckham and set out to destroy his marriage for money.

Ms Marbeck, 29, has made international headlines with claims she was the Real Madrid
player's mistress for up to two years.

She told a British newspaper how they made passionate love and exchanged hundreds of
erotic text messages, with Beckham even professing his love for her.

A report in the Herald Sun today claims that, according to a friend, the Melbourne-based
Malaysian-born model had not been able to stop thinking about Beckham since a chance encounter
in 2001.

Friends alleged Ms Marbeck was actually in Melbourne on social security benefits at
the time she said she and Beckham were texting each other by mobile phone.

Her friends said she was doing it for the money and that her behaviour had become increasingly
erratic.

The allegations coincided with a public plea by her family today for her to contact them.

She has not been seen since her claims in the News of the World that she had a two-year
relationship with Beckham were published.

The Herald Sun said Ms Marbeck was working as a shop assistant until three weeks ago.
