Fed: Japanese soldiers remains found on Kokoda trail

The remains of four World War Two Japanese soldiers have been discovered by Australianpersonnel on the infamous Kokoda trail in Papua New Guinea.

And they are examining bones of another soldier who might turn out to be one of fiveAustralian men missing from one of the most important battles of 1942.

An Australian Defence Force team spent 13 days earlier this year excavating seven sitesnear the villages of Isurava and Alola, 100 kilometres north of Port Moresby.

Leader of the team, CHRIS GRIFFITHS, says five bodies have been discovered among acollection of ammunition, helmets and army boots.
