Fed: Israel warns Australia is a terror target
SYDNEY, Feb 18 AAP - Israel has reportedly received specific information that Australiais a major target for terrorists.
A senior Israeli security source warned Tel Aviv has specific information that Australiais a target for terrorists linked to Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network in coming weeksand months, The Australian reported today.
The terrorists find Australia easy to enter and move money in, and the source toldthe newspaper there were dozens of terrorist cells in the region which could be activatedat any time to carry out attacks.
Poor security, porous borders, and weak government and law and order structures commonthroughout the region have made Asia and Australia easy for terrorists to penetrate, thenewspaper said.
The source said the removal of Iraq's President Saddam Hussein would inflame Islamicextremists and lead to attempts to exact revenge on the west.
